Detail showing the Grid Works Illusion from "Tumbling Down"
The grid illusion is impossible to explain and doesnt translate well into digital media. It's so cool, live and in person! The art is stationery. The moving dots are an illusion created your movment in relation to the shadows cast by the drawings. Some things are better experienced in the real world instead of our virtual one.
Detail from The Narrows"
The gridwork series features large pieces created with tiny works. Each square is has been thoughfully composed to be appreciated independently of the whole.
Each of the small works must be precisely cut to the same exact size. For larger works like "The Narrows", this step alone can take days.
If you have ever done any tilework, you understand that gluing the tiny paintings to clear acrylic sheets is no easy task. Perfect alignment is required for the grid illusion to be effective.
